Access Statement
Introduction
We aim to cater for the needs of all visitors in our home-based, 3 bedroom bed and breakfast. The following statement is a summary of our provision. If you have any specific questions please feel free to call us and we will endeavour to help.
Pre-arrival
Local transport is limited but the train station is on the main line to Penzance from other major cities and the National Coach Line has a stop within the town. These are within 10 minutes walk from Tremont House. We can arrange to collect guests who may have difficultly walking up the hill from the train or bus station.
We have a website which is available. This contains pictures of the house and the three bedrooms, all on the first floor.
Menus can be provided in large size, by prior arrangement.

Arrival and Parking Facilities
On arrival at Tremont House there is a sloping, tar macadam driveway. The first vehicle in the driveway should drive close to the house, leaving ample space for two further vehicles.
The driveway is close to the back door of the house, which is the main entrance. There is a level surface to the back door.
Assistance with luggage is always offered to guests.
A good level of lighting is on in hours of darkness, for guests, when they come into the driveway and up to the back door of the house.
Main Entrance and Reception
Having come through the entrance area, the house opens out to a large hallway.
The floor is traditionally tiled, dating back to the original house build.
A traditional wooden bench seat and large chair are available for guests.
A dado rail, with contrasting colours of wallpaper above and below the rail, are in the entrance area and also on the stairway.
Guests are escorted to their rooms and the facilities are explained.
Public Areas – General (internal)
The breakfast room has a wooden floor with large, loose rugs. This is on the ground floor.
The stairway to the bedrooms has a width of just over one metre. There are twenty stairs, in three sections, to the first floor.
On the first floor is a guest lounge with comfortable seating.
Breakfast Room
Furniture is flexible and can be moved on request.
Tables have an underspace of seventy two centimetres. Chairs can be moved to accommodate.
Vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and other dietary requirements can be catered for, by prior request.
Outdoor Facilities
Outside both back and front doors are seating areas. The area outside the front door is reached by three steps.
Bedrooms
Bedroom 1 is a double room.
Bedrooms 2 and 3. have a double and single bed and can be used as a double or twin bedded room.
Bedroom 3 has a pedestal handbasin with clear underspace, 78cm high.
Televisions have handsets, teletext and sub-titles.
Fitted short pile carpets are on all bedroom and guest lounge floors.
All bedrooms and landing have hard wired smoke detectors.
An emergency bell push is on the landing area to call for assistance.
Lights are mainly fitted with low energy bulbs.
Bathrooms
Room 1 is en suite. The bathroom door is 76cm wide. There is a rounded pedestal handbasin, with clear underspace. It is 83 cm high. The shower has a step/edge of 28cm. The toilet is 42 cm high.
Room 2 is en suite. The bathroom is accessed through two doors 74 cm wide. The handbasin, 86cm high, is surmounted on a cupboard. A small step accesses the shower and bath. The shower has a step 25 cm high and the top of the bath is 53 cm from the floor.
Room 3 has its own private bathroom and separate toilet. These are ten steps down and up from the bedroom. The toilet is 42cm high. The bath is 47cm from the floor, with a chair close by. The handbasin has a clear underspace and is 80cm high. Both entry doors are 78cm wide.
Additional Information
A small refrigerator in the Dining Room is available for guests to store items.
Mobile telephone reception is available but can be difficult in some areas of the house. Guests may use the landline, by arrangement, at the call cost.
There is a computer with wireless connection available in the guest lounge. Wireless connection is available in all public areas.
Reception is normally between 4:00pm and 6:00pm. This is flexible and can be altered with prior information.
Guests are requested to leave by 11:00am on the day of departure.
Emergency exit details are in each room. An enlarged copy of the exit procedure is available on request.
